Discover Amazing Food At The Best Vegan Friendly Restaurants In Adelaide

Adelaide offers a huge range of vegan dishes. From a vegan twist on classic Greek food to Vietnamese pho to Korean fried chicken, Adelaide’s vegan restaurants will take you on a journey around the world. Explore the city’s best places to eat with this vegan guide to the best restaurants in Adelaide.

Not all my recommendations are 100% vegan. Some are veggie or omni but all are on the list because they have an extensive vegan menu and super delicious dishes.

1. Staazi & Co

This vegan Greek takeaway shop is a real crowd pleaser!

Staazi & Co started as a food truck and is now Adelaide’s favourite vegan eatery! The Grenfell street in the heart of the CBD offers a vegan twist on classic greek offerings such as lamb or chicken yiros or the delightful AB – the best vegan meat piled on top of crunchy fries with a drizzle of homemade tzatziki.

It started as a dream to share and spread vegan lifestyle education and awareness through food. We want to advocate that veganism is not compromising taste but rather living in alignment with core values we are all born with. Our project is a message of compassion, kindness & sustainability coupled with really good food. Our drive and motivation is animal liberation.” – Staazi & Co

2. Cherry Darlings

CLOSING END OF JANUARY 😭

Cherry Darlings is a totally vegan bakery with a huge selection of baked savoury goods like pies & sausage rolls as well as more vegan sweet treats than you will ever need.

They are always pushing the boundaries with different flavour pies but I can’t go past the smokey bean with mashed potato.

The deep-dish cookie blondie is unparalleled and the vanilla slice is an absolute dream. It’s hard to stop at just one!

Cherry Darlings will be closing in Jan 2024 so get it while you can!

3. Mai Kitchen

The ultimate Vietnamese vegan feast in Adelaide

Mai Kitchen has one of the most extensive vegan menus in Adelaide. This family-owned restaurant provides top-quality, modern, contemporary and authentic Vietnamese cuisine. Don’t go past the vegan roast pork or the savoury Vietnamese pancake filled with tofu.

4. K-Pub

Heaven is vegan fried chicken

K-Pub is my personal favourite! I am obsessed with the Volcano chicken! The ultra spicy vegan fried chicken is a delight for the tastebuds and the heat makes you feel alive.

If you visit with a group the hotpot is perfect for sharing.

5. Two-Bit Villains

A vegan twist on classic American dishes

Overlooking Rundle Mall, Two-Bit Villians is the perfect place to shop for a burger and a shake.

“Since opening in 2011, Two-Bit Villains has been smashing the stigma against vegetarian alternatives with our plant-based, Americana cuisine. Our variety of award-winning “beef” and “chicken” burgers are more than a handful of tastiness and our tacos are perfect for spicing up your palette.”

6. Zenhouse

A Classic Adelaide Vegan Restaurant

Zenhouse is one of the OG vegetarian restaurants in Adelaide. Established in 2006, Zenhouse has been bringing delicious Asian fusion delights to the people for years. The yum cha special is a winner offering 5 items for $22.90!

The Adelaide restaurant is now closed but the Port Road location in West Hindmarsh is still serving tasty mock meats and Asian flavours.

7. Veggie Vie

Best burgers in Adelaide

On offer at Veggie Vie is a selection of burgers, salads, soups, freshly squeezed juice & smoothies and sweet treats. The BEST burger I have ever had was the jackfruit burger at Veggie Vie.

The owners and staff are super friendly and welcoming so definitely give them a try. They are currently closed while they move to a new location. 16 McHenry St, Adelaide. Opening date TBA!

8. Chatkazz

HUGE menu of all vegetarian Indian cuisine

Chatkazz is my new favourite place to dine out! The menu is massive with plenty of vegan options. You won’t find your typical Indian curries here, Chatkazz offers streetfood like pani-puri, idli and samosas plus Southern Indian delights like dosa and chhole batura.

This restaurant is in Lightsview which isn’t exactly a destination for fine dining but it’s always packed. The service is fast and friendly and the prices are very reasonable!

9. Sonny’s Pizza Bar

Bellisimo! Authentic Italian Pizza

Sonny’s Pizza Bar prides itself on offering authentic Italian cuisine. They took on the challenge of creating the perfect vegan pizza.

Unlike the competition, our pizzas are made with our own mock meats and cheese that we create in-store. After seeing that the selection of cheeses and mock meats for vegan pizzas wasn’t at our standard, we strived to perfect recipes to create that authentic Italian taste, without any harm to any animal.

10. Hanamura

Japanese Restaurant with Vegan Menu

Japanese cuisine is not always the most vegan-friendly so to find that Hanamura had a full vegan menu was very exciting indeed. Hanamura has many dishes to choose from that far exceed the typical fare of veggie sushi. The adegashi tofu is my personal favourite but you won’t be short of options. They have two locations – Norwood & Modbury.

11. The Gator Club

The Best Vegan Brunch In Adelaide

Vegan crispy hashbrown on a dark ceramic plate, adorned with avocado slices, diced tomatoes, microgreens, and dollops of creamy aioli sauce, served in a sophisticated dining setting at The Gator Club in Adelaide.

The Gator Club has an all-vegan brunch menu, delicious baked goodies, and incredible coffee and smoothies.

12. Plant 4 Bowden

Plant 4 Bowden is a big boujee food court with stalls offering a huge range of dishes including many vegan options. My favourite is the polenta chips from Francesco’s Cicchetti and the pad Thai from Pingan Veggie Time. This is a good place to go with friends as everyone is sure to find something they will enjoy.

13. Joy Of Flora

Joy of Flora – Popular with the locals, Joy of Flora Cafe is a plant-based cafe with a beautiful garden and art on display.

14. Veggo Sizzle

Veggo Sizzle – You will be spoilt for choice at Veggo Sizzle. This has to be the most comprehensive vegan menu in all of Adelaide so there is something to suit everyone!

15. Nagev

Nagev – This eastside cafe changed a little with new ownership. The Venezuelan owners have brought a South-American flair to the all-vegan menu. You have to try the arepas!
